1966 Vacuum Concerns

Good morning Bill –
I have a couple of questions regarding the location of a couple of control valves on this vehicle.I am having an issue with the heater system as well as the door locks. I am looking for the location of the heater control box so I can verify lines and vacuum, and also the vacuum control valve assembly for the door lock system. I had the locks working due to open vacuum lines but now they stopped working again so I want to start from the beginning. Also, the selector valve, would that be the lock/unlock button on the door? Thanks. The service manual is not very helpful with locations of components.

Greetings Guy –
That control ” Box ” that you are looking for is used if your 66 is equipped with a Heater only, Heater and Manual A/C or the Automatic Climate Control. It should be located forward from the parking brake pedal, on the firewall above the headlight dimmer foot switch.
The vacuum door lock valve assembly should be located behind the left ( driver’s side kick panel ) next to the parking brake pedal. The vacuum door lock control actuator is installed on each of the front doors in the center above the power window switches. Good luck with your repairs.
Sincerely,
Bill

Thank you Bill.
That must be that big square box that I saw under the dash. So the control actuator they are talking about is the switch as I thought. Thanks a lot. You guys are the best. I’m sure I will need some more things for this and when I do, I will be calling you.
