1974 Mark IV Overheating

My car over heats, I just put my block remanufactured by Jasper’s, I pick up from the shop on Friday.
I was taken it for ride and the temperature lite came on and buzzer.
I bled the radiator and try that still ran hot.
I checked no leaks, is it possible that the thermostat is not doing its job?
Harris

Hi Harris –

If the engine is in fact actually overheating then yes, the thermostat could be faulty. There are other possibilities as well however. The engine temperature indicating circuit or sensor could be faulty or damaged, the radiator can still be plugged and need correcting or the clutch at the cooling fan can be faulty. Have you discussed this issue with your engine rebuilder yet? He may have further advice for you. Good luck to you.
