1969 Sedan – Odd Problem – and follow up

Hi Bill –
Odd problem – when l drive my car for a short run then turn it off, my Windows and heater will not power up. I have to let it sit for awhile and then things will work again. Can’t figure it out.

Paul –
To diagnose this type of electrical issue properly you will need the correct wiring diagram for that 69 to find out how, where, and when that circuit receives power. You or your mechanic would then need to diagnose the various components involved in a logical sequence. Is there possibly something that you are not telling us? Whomever works on the car would need additional information such as what have you checked so far regarding any electrical accessories and what electrical parts you have already purchased and installed or replaced on the car. I myself have not heard of this exact type of failure as you describe. If your issue was power windows and heater not working at all I would “guess” a possible problem with the ignition switch or the power window safety relay. These still could be suspected and good places to start testing. Your problem though “as you describe it” also sounds to me that possibly someone may have messed up some wiring. These strange electrical faults sometimes require careful and lengthy diagnosis.
Sincerely,
Bill

Thanks Bill –
Do you happen to know where the window safety relay is located?
Thanks,
Paul

That relay should be located under the hood and under the rear area of the right fender (just ahead of the blower motor and scroll assembly / duct work) on the inside of the rt. front wheel well.
