Hi Bill –
I have a 1969 Lincoln Continental sedan. I have a intermittent power issue with the passenger side window motor. It will work for a couple weeks then stop working for a couple weeks. If I jump the motor directly it works. I also have new switches and all other windows work correctly. I also have wiring diagrams and check door jamb wiring for breaks/shorts. Are there any specific relay, fuses, or breakers that only the passenger window uses or do you suspect a short somewhere?
Donald
Hello Donald –
Your question does not indicate if your power window issue is happening to your rt. passenger front window or your rt. passenger rear window. The front window operates without relays while the rear windows use two relays for each side. Their operation should be shown in your wiring diagram that you have.
If your problem is in the rt. front window I would first strongly suspect that the rt. front passenger switch could be faulty as the power runs in and out of that switch when the master control OR the rt. front switch is operated to that window. If your problem is at the rt. rear window I would first suspect a faulty relay ( the four relays are located in the trunk behind the rear seat ) . Of course, if an intermittent wire connection in that circuit exists and is the cause, it must be located and corrected. Your wiring diagram should show you the power path for tracing the operation.
Sincerely,
Bill
