1968 Lincoln Continental Sedan Window Issues

Hello Bill

,
Right rear window inoperable in up / down @ both master & local switches; the relays appear to be good as I have rotated with others. The window regulator / motor gear has been replaced and working thereafter. Suspect the motor CB . The local and master switches have been checked for continuity OK. 2nd recent problem with the Left FR. driver window has suddenly become very sluggish and is not inoperable in Up / Down.
There has been a long history of GOOD operation of all windows for decades.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Bob

Hi Bob –

The power window wiring on these years of Lincolns can be quite complicated when they fail and absolutely do require the use of the correct FoMoCo wiring diagrams and so on for tracing and diagnosis when they fail.

If the power window motors are as you now suspect at fault I would with the use of a fully charged, good battery and the use of jumper cables jump the suspected motors directly at their wiring plugs in the door. This should help to prove to you whether or not your diagnosis is correct or not. Keep in mind however that it is very common for these systems to have several issues and that you could have several relay and or switch problems as well.  We wish you good luck with your diagnosis.

Sincerely,

Bill
